Description
The Klindex Elica Pad 1 is a 400 grit, 43cm diamond floor pad designed as the starting point for restoring worn concrete, terrazzo and natural stone floors. As the coarsest pad in the Elica range, it levels uneven surfaces, removes deep scratches and clears old coatings, preparing the floor for the finer grits that follow. It’s also well suited to concrete overlay systems such as Mapei Ultratop or Pandomo.
Key Features
- 400 grit diamond floor pad for coarse restoration and levelling work
- Flexible pad support avoids the orange peel effect, even on softer natural stone
- 43cm diameter, suited to commercial floor polishing machines
- Fewer passes required compared to traditional diamond floor restoration pads
- Can be used wet or dry depending on the job and equipment
- Contours to floor undulations and lippage for consistent contact
Benefits
- Cuts restoration time by removing scratches and wear in fewer passes
- Smooth, even base finish that sets up the floor for higher grit polishing pads
- Reduces the risk of an uneven, blotchy result on softer stone floors
- One pad suits both wet and dry workflows, cutting down on equipment changes
Safety Information
- Wear safety glasses, hearing protection and non slip footwear when operating floor machines
- Keep the work area clear of bystanders while the machine is running
- Use appropriate dust or slurry extraction and ventilate the area during dry or wet polishing
- Ensure the diamond pad is correctly fitted and machine guards are in place before starting
- Mark wet floors clearly to prevent slips during and after wet polishing
- Always follow the floor machine manufacturer’s operating instructions
FAQs
- What is a diamond floor pad used for? Diamond floor pads are used with a floor polishing machine to grind, restore and progressively polish concrete, terrazzo and natural stone surfaces, removing scratches, lippage and old coatings before higher grit pads build up the shine.
- What grit should I start with when restoring a worn stone or concrete floor? A coarse grit such as 400 is generally the starting point for restoration work, used to level the surface and remove deep scratches or wear before moving through progressively finer grits to build shine.
- Can diamond floor pads be used wet or dry? Yes, quality diamond floor pads such as the Elica system are designed to perform in both wet and dry polishing methods, giving flexibility depending on the machine setup and site conditions.
- Why do some diamond pads leave an orange peel texture on stone floors? Rigid pad backings can dig unevenly into softer stones, creating a bumpy orange peel texture, whereas flexible pads like the Elica 400 grit contour to the floor and avoid this effect even on softer stone types.
- What size diamond pads fit standard floor polishing machines? 43cm is a common diamond pad size for commercial single disc and planetary floor machines used in concrete, terrazzo and natural stone restoration.
